I'm looking for any book reviews or letters to the editor at the time that the catcher in the rye was released, around 1951. Any good website that may have this info?

Here's are two NY Times 1951 reviews of the book - see first 2 links below. please

Link three will link you to these:

"REVIEWS OF J. D. SALINGER'S BOOKS:
'The Catcher in the Rye,' reivewed James Stern (1951)
In his negative review of Salinger's classic, James Stern mockingly employs the informal slang of Holden Caufield: "This Salinger, he's a short story guy. And he knows how to write about kids. This book though, it's too long. Gets kind of monotonous."
'The Catcher in the Rye,' reviewed by Nash K. Burger (1951)
". . . an unusually brilliant novel . . . Salinger's rendering of teen-age speech is wonderful: the unconscious humor, the repetitions, the slang and profanity, the emphasis, all are just right."

Link 4 will give you Time magazine's 1951 review

I don't know any reviews or letters to the editor, but I do remember in one of the recent articles saying that high school students are really relating to the book and are finding the book fascinating. I read that book last year and thought it was one of the easiest reads and fascinating reads.
One of the closest books I could find to this book was The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobosky. Hope you read it, if you liked the Catcher in the Rye.
