This question pre supposes that it actually makes a difference which party is elected and who leads it. Since the days of Margaret Thatcher through Major, Blair and now Brown a mostly semi illterate population has had its political views shaped by the very pro republican, anti Europe, pro American views of Rupert Murdoch's newspapers - The Sun, News of the World etc, plus The Daily Star and the Express.
Politicians' policies regardless of the party in power are shaped by the Civil Service (domestic poilicy) and the White House (Foreign Policy). Senior civil servants tend to be very destructive towards whichever party is in power. Coupled with all this there is a greed, selfishness and apathetic incompetence which seems to rule business (Northern Rock etc), and state run services (the National Health Service for example - thousands die of viruses caught in filthy hospitals each year).
The quality of life in Britain will not improve until people receive a better education - an articulate
aggressive electorate might actually make politicians more responsive to their needs. Health care needs radical reform,
as does education and the Police, who seem totally unable to deal with the daily disorder on our streets. The present two party system with policies created by bitchy civil servants and an ever more extreme White House plus newspaper owners, will just ensure less and less people vote for worse and worse politicians.

Lets hope so, a lot of people have short memories and forget that he was responsible for pensions being taxed. The elderly and poor have already got things tough enough as it is without moronic plagists like him. Don't forget he has also just all but signed away the rights of the british people to a country that cares nothing for us.

I hope so.

Anyone who can sign a major document ( e.u constitution) knowing that the majority of ppl in the uk oppose it,shows that he does not have the nations interest at heart he is no different to blair.

We can thank the ppl who have voted labour over the last few years.

He does not seem strong enough as a leader.
I have watched him in the House of Commons, his oratory skills fail him.
He does not have charisma and seems almost apologetic. Since his "reign" there have come to light limitless blunders. Will he survive after the next election (no I dont think so).

He lied his way through his Budgets as Chancellor and now he is either lying his way through being PM or just not there at all. The whole Labour Party is about to self destruct .

What does it matter what the public want - Brown doesn't have to go to the country for another 3 years - that's an awfully long time for Cameron to keep his gang in line.

I agree though, it is time for something new.
