Avoiding kidney dialysis. Early in the year, I was told that I was in stage 3 of kidney failure and that the next step would be either dialysis or a transplant. I did some research and found a doctor, Neal Barnard, who claimed that animal proteins were more difficult for the kidneys to handle and that going on a vegan diet would help patients with kidney failure. Plant proteins are much easier on the kidneys. I went through my kitchen cabinets and frig, giving away a lot of food. I restocked with vegan everything and had to learn to cook all over again. I was recently rewarded by the doctor and one of his partners being astounded by how much my kidneys had improved. :-) It was a big change to make, but well worth it.

When I was about to feel betrayed and lonely, I took Alice by the hand and we walked up the hill together. Just the two of us!! And we reached at the top in no time. And we rejoiced. I say it once again : Just the two of us. Me and Alice!
This was a big achievement regardless time limits.

Finally moving back to my hometown. I have travelled the world with either my ex (Air Force) or my career and this year I finally moved my career back to my hometown. And it feels so wonderful to be back here among friends. Plus my daughter's dad and his new wife live here so it has been wonderful for my daughter to be able to spend more time with her dad now as well. So my greatest achievement this year was coming home.

Learning how to positively interact with my autistic daughter. She taught me to start each day, as though it were a new one and not to hold grudges and somethings don't look the same to everyone.
