shes been like this before i was born, and i`m so scared of her sometime, she calls me horrible names at times, and she doesn`t let me go to school even though i have GCSEs on, and soon i`m going to have this review meeting at school, with someone from this education place, and they think it`s me who doesn`t want to go to school but i do, but i can`t blame her becuase i feel guilty, she has nothing really, she just stays in home and washes and cooks all day really

Sorry to say so, but yes, it sounds like she is ill. Sounds like she has some form of obsessive/compulsive disorder (OCD). It is not uncommon as you might think. Please try to get your mom to go see a doctor. Her regular doctor, if she has one, can probably help. Good luck, dear.

obsessive compulsive disorder....re do this question and post it in mental health.

try to look up OCD on google and discuss this with ur mum, say she can have a better life and the doctor can help her, its nothin to be ashamed of; i have OCD and many ppl do u can have medication mainly its to do with the signals not crossin the brain properly. please let her know that she doesnt hjave to be ashamed so many people have got it ther is nothin bad about it but getin help wil make her feel better and more free......if u can call a doctor in...dont worry NO ONE wil take her away unless she is goin to harm anyone else or herself, no one wil put her in a mental hospital she just needs some meds or therapy, also it can run in family so if u find urself with these tendancies or maybe other obsessions such as pickin things up or touchnn things a certain amount of times or obsessive thoughts then u no that you can get help for it

good luck and contact me if u wana ask nythn else

please ignore the negative comments about mental illness, people like that give mental health a bad stigma that needs to be removed.

i would speak to a trusted adult if i were you, she shouldnt be beatin you either, that wil cause u long term difficulties please seek help

Sound like she is taking it a bit to far keeping everything clean. I clean houses & offices for extra money. Maybe does have a disorder about keeping clean. Can u talk to some one else in the family? That might help without her knowing.

By no means is my own home spotless.

Yes, she has some sort of mental illness. She may have Germaphobia (unrealistic fear of germs), or some other form of neurosis that makes her behave that way. Realize she doesn't mean to be that way, she can't help it. She has an illness. Maybe you, or someone you know who she will listen to can get her to go seek treatment for this. I wouldn't worry about it though. A lot of people suffer from these things. :)

I'm not gonna say she's mad...coz she's probably not and it rly hurts you (she's your mum after all).

I think she's just fixated. This is rly quite common (amazingly enough). It's usually just a phase, a long one, but a phase. I could help you more if I knew for how long she's been at it but i'm assuming forever and still don't worry. She can overcome it with a little reflection and "help" (let's be real, it's usually nothing serious, extremely annoying, but not serious. But she's still gonna need "help").

Hope I helped and dw, my mum and grandma are also fixated so dw...you're definately not alone on this one!! :-O

Sounds like she is obsessive/compulsive or a germ phobia. Can you see if she will talk to a doctor? I hope you can help her get some help.

Good Luck, sweetie.

sounds to me like your mom has developed an obsessive compulsive disorder, she probably doesn't even realize she is doing it to such an extreme to her dirt is the enemy and must be eliminated,it is not good for her health to be so obsessive over cleanliness not only can she not possibly wipe out every speck of dirt she sees she will stress and burn herself out trying to do so,your family needs to gently persuade her to seek professional help for this problem

Yes she needs to see a psychiatrist and get counselling and possibly medication. She has obsessive compulsive disorder. She shouldnt be beating you either. Thats another issue altogether.

i had a mother like that. do your best to survive, dont kill yourself and get out of the house when you get to college age, 18+. it happens, sorry to hear you're in that situation. try getting involved with some stuff outside of school and home, like volunteering and/or part time job.
