It has been a stand-alone game and it will not be competing with the NFL. Also, it really seems like the hope is the game will have the same impact with a Monday prime-time audience like the hoops championship game & the time slot is a major selling point to bolster the cost of ads.

They may get more viewers on the weekend, but the NFL and NCAA try not to schedule games at the same time. That's why you don't see college games on Sundays, and the NFL only plays on Saturdays between the end of the regular college season and the start of the "bowl" season.

It also keeps us in the nasty habit of watching football on Monday nights, no matter who is playing.

It used to be on a Sunday a few years ago I think the last was in 2003 when LSU won the title and they changed it because it would interfere with the NFL games and no one would watch it Its all about the ratings

It's like the Superbowl being on a Sunday. Either they need to move it to Saturday night or make the Monday after a National Holiday.

It's simple. They can sell more ad spots by having it on monday. Sunday they have NFL playoff games, so by having it monday, they get an extra day of primo ad spots. Basically the show will run from 6 to 1230, so that is a lot of extra cash for them.

I know work is going to be fun the next day, but it will be all worth it if the Buckeyes win their 2nd National Championship since 2002-2003 season, in their 3 appearance since that season.
