Ok,before you get hyped let me tell you, last night i watched this one show on the science channel on "Doomsday on 2012:life after the impact"or something along those lines.Personally i think its bullshit because in 5 years everythings just gonna become disingrated from this damn comet? But at the same time it scares the blood out of my bones because all these notorious scientist that work for NASA and such all agree to the conclusion that this will in fact happen in 2012 if they can't stop it[which is very rare]My death wish is not including a giant meteor creamating me.What do you guys think?

well this is a new twist to the 2012 question, First if this was the case dont you think that the entire worlds governments would be working on this to divert this comet or whatever it is your refering to, secondly there is not one bit of news about this at Nasa or anywhere else, Those tv shows are just a bunch of hype aimed at the end of times prophecys,, Lord knows we have enough of this already,

There is no asteroid or comet going to hit this earth in 2012, It simply is the end of the aincient myan calender and some people are out to make an end of times thing out of it,, Relax and enjoy life to the fullest, and you will be here after 2012 along with many others who inhabit this planet, Have a very Merry Christmas,,

The mayans were an advanced civilisation living many years ago. They did estimate the end of the world to be 12-21-12. There are no records however as to why.

In order for an asteroid to cause the end of the earth, it would have to measure 10 kilometers in diameter. the odds of this happening is 1 in 100 million. small chance.

one thing worth noting however, is that on the 21st of december 2012 (when this is predicted), the alignment of the earth, moon and sun will, for 3 hours only be such that hidden asteroids will be pulled out of there current orbit, and towards the earth.

Now is this a coincidence? the mayans predict a day that such an alignment occurs by accident? possibly, possibly not. Maybe they were watching a comet that has now hidden itself because of its orbit.

Im not a believer or a disbeliever of the 12-21-12 apocolypse,
i reckon that if its gonna happen theres nothing we can do. no point worrying. i do however think when looking at the facts, maybe it could happen.

asteroid is of course not the only possibility of the end of the earth. they just hinted this date to be its end, they never stated how.

Nobody at NASA thinks a comet will hit the Earth in 2012. NOBODY. I don't know what program you watched, but they probably just asked the scientists what they thought would happen *if* a comet were on a collision course with earth, and then edited the video to make it look like they were predicting doomsday, so that you would be frightened and so go out and buy more crap.

Everything 2012 is bullshit.

The Mayan 2012 thing is nothing but hyped-up garbage, published to sell ad copies. No one knows what tommorrow will bring, and that included the ancient Mayans. If they had had access to that kind of intelligence we would have all been speaking Mayan today. That is not to say that we couldn't be hit by a comet 5 minutes from now; but, worrying about life and living is far more productive than dwelling on our inevitable death.

I don't think that the world will end in 2012. Because before and during the world's end there will be battles and fights among people towards power. And there will be many natural disaster too. It is predicted that peopl's age limit goes down to about 7-20. But these are predictions. We can't tell for sure what will happen in the future.

Anna -

There is no shortage of so-called experts who will stand up and proclaim that the world is ending and that the government is covering it up. The latest one appears to be solar flares. Oh, my.

A lot of these folks - like those on the Discovery channel - make a lot of money by scaring people that don't know whether to believe them or not. Consider the source. If this stuff was coming from NASA / JPL, I would listen. But it's not. It's coming from folks that know less about it than you do.

I'm really tired of TV feeding us all this conspiracy crap.
All they're doing is playing on your willfully minded fascination for destruction.

Space is real, just like time.
We don't need all of these conspiracies clouding our judgement and making us believe such far-fetched crap. I'm sorry for saying "crap" but that's what it is. Everytime I come to this forum, someone is asking about 2012.
Guess what?
2012 is a myth, it's not real.
They mayan calender just happens to run out on 12/21/12, there is no significant evidence of a new dawn or era among us humans. It will be a regular day, why?

There is no definative or absolute proof of any sort of doom on that particular day.

I have two suggestions for you. Turn off the discovery channel. Wear a tin foil hat, because the notorious scientists at NASA are probably using alien technology to scan your brain. Isnt that the type of thing they do at NASA?
They know you are afraid to die of a comet, and they told the discovery channel and thats why they are playing it. You see, it increases thier ratings, they make more money, and they send half to NASA.
ok, no go tell all your friends.

I think there is a possibiliy i been watching stuff like this lately and its all somewhat different on how it will happen. I mean it seems so close for a date everyone will die. But it makes sense cause this is kinda what we need. We (humans) are destroying the earth and taking all its natrual resorces so this could just be a way to stop this and start life over again on earth.

But it seems that it would be hard to kill us all (the comet) i think its more going to be something that decreases our population. If a asteroid hit more likely it would hit water (scientist can't perdict land or water yet if they aren't sure its even going to happen) and if it hits water that will just kill our coast lines. Especialy new orleans.

The other thing that could kill us is people that believe this stuff that get scared. They could go insane trying to have their last "fun" on earth. In the month leading up to december 21 there will be alot of gun buying suicides, murder, rape....so on

I think its over done, it might happen, but not everyone will die

I just hope there will be a football game for me to watch that day

The world could end tomorrow or it could stick around another million years or so.
I am more afraid of the people in the world who are hell bent on wiping each other out then some comet that "might" be crashing in to the earth in the year 2012. Whos to say we even make it that long?
