Women are fertile for a few days. Basically, the OPK test for the LH hormone. The LH hormone MEANS that you are going to ovulate within 12-36 hours. You are fertile for a few days because sperm can live 3-5 days (but most live 3 days)...so, if you were to have sex 24 hours before you ovulated, you could get pregnant. So, really, even though the egg is there for only 24 hours, if the sperm is waiting for her beforehand, she is really fertile for a few days. Also, it's very tough to pinpoint EXACTLY when you ovulate hence the fertility window. Good Luck and baby dust!!!

You do have a few fertile days each month. 4 days up to and including the day of your ovulation. Sperm can live up to 5 days in fertile cervical mucus, and THAT is why you're considered fertile for those extra days. The sperm can lie in wait for the egg to be released. (Thus, having sex 3-4 days before ovulation can lead to pregnancy.)
The opk will only detect your surge - therefore you have been fertile since BEFORE your opk was positive. This is a good reason to keep an eye on your fertility signs - cervical mucus is a good one. When you see egg-whitish cervical mucus, consider yourself fertile. You might also consider charting your temps for a few moths to see better when you normally ovulate http://www.fertilityfriend.com .
Best of luck to you!

After you try for a year and no luck please be sure to see a fertility specialist. I have trouble reading my ovulation tests but I have a medical condition that throws those hormones out of whack. Some women ovulate much later in their cycle not only day 14...that is textbook and doesn't happen for all women! Buy another test and see if you find the surge later in the month. I think you should only start testing around cycle day 10 at the earliest...but check with a doctor. Good luck and baby dust! :-)

You will have one "BEST" fertile day - the day before you temp spikes - however, you are fertile for the days before the "big O" and sometimes, 2 days after the "Big O" This span of five days is referred to has your most fertile days. The best way to determine your fertile days is to check CM and CPOS (Cervical mucus and cervical position). If you CM is fertile - it will be creamy/eggwhite stretchy - CP will determine if you are indeed ovulating by going higher, softer, and open (Checking CP takes practice). In most instances the CP will be in this position or close to it within this 5 day fertile span. Hope this helps!

You're only fertile for 24-36 hours. Its not days, and it never will be days. Its only ONE day each cycle.
Your LH hormones spikes, you release an egg about 12-24 hours later, and that egg is only viable for 24-36 hours.
You were just misinformed about your body and fertility.

if it wasnt a full positive then perhaps you havent fully ovulated this month, many people dont ovulate every month, i never got a fully positive result and have been told my ovulation is sometimes not very strong, just about to start on clomid to help.
try again next month for a longer period and hopefully a full positive will occur
