Venezuela's Angel Falls. The falls have a height of 979 m (or 3212 ft), so high that the water turns to mist before it hits the ground. The waterfall gained worldwide fame after aviator James Crawford Angel sighted it from the air in 1937; the falls are named after him. Ironically, the native name for the mountain on which Angel Falls is located translates to "Devil's Mountain."
