for a turtle you have to go to the vet and they will get you a perscription, you will have to bring him in though, that might be somewhat difficult when hes in hibernation but it will be worth it you could be saving his life, turtles are to die from just a little eye diesease! GOOD LUCK

Is it REALLY in hibernation? A hibernating water turtle will be buried, hidden in thick mud underwater in about 40-45F water temps. Otherwise, it is just too cold to be active and is wasting away. (Turtles almost never hibernate in a typical household set-up.)

Your first step is to warm the water up to 75-80F and get its blood flowing again so you can offer it the correct treatment.

I assume you mean swollen eyes. Swollen eyes are usually due to infections. In Box Turtles, it may be due to vitamin A problems, but this is less common in other species.

In water turtles, the basic treatment is...
- Warm the water up to 80-85F to create an artificial 'fever'.
- Get the water crystal clean and disinfect the habitat overall
- Offer lighting that has UVB rays in it to help kill germs
- Take the turtle out of the water and keep it in a warm box while you drip eye drops on each eye. You can use:
--- Turtle eye drops
--- Cod liver oil (ideally in gel-cap form, poke with a pin to drizzle out the oil on the eyes)
--- Human antibiotic eye drops or ointment
- Let the drops work for an hour or so before you put it back in the water.

If the eyes do not clear up in about a week, please see a vet for antibiotic treatments and supplemental cares.

You should take her to the vet, my friend! One of my turtles had eye problems years ago and it happened to be related to a bacterial pneumonia. She almost died from it and was saved in the nick of time. Don't take chances, go to the vet.
