It depends. Everyone is different. I'm debt-free now, have my own house. But I'm looking for ways to get passive income.
You have look for ways to make money: cash or passive income.
pay off the balance on credit card ASAP.
spend only money you have

To pay off all your debts, start with your credit cards. Get an extra job, or eliminate other expenses (cable TV, cell-phone, etc). Then start paying off all your cards.
After your credit cards are paid off, move on to your car loans, and finally to your mortgage.

Well I just sat down last night and done a calculation and I came up with at the longest a year from now and depending on how big my bonuses are at work it may only take 6 months. =-) I just sold my car and now driving my paid off car so that helped alot. Debt free is the way to be

At least 5 years since I weaned myself off credit cards & have a 4 year auto loan.
