A defense attorney needs to be pursuasive, they prosecuter is smart and the jury is dumb, you need to get their attention and make them believe what you want them to believe. Next, you need to be willing to represent at times what may be a guilty person. Last but not least, you have to negotiate. Representing that gulity person (or that person was set up real good) you need to make a deal with the prosecution, but don't give in too easily.
