Can you drink if you've taken an hCG injection?

I have been doing fertility treatments. Last tuesday I took my hCG shot. I know for a fact that I ovulated, HOWEVER, I ovulated from the side that I have a blocked tube, so there is NO chance of pregnancy. I would like to have a few drinks over the holidays, anyone know if this is something that should be avoided due to side effects on me?

I am NOT pregnant, I would never drink if I thought there was even a chance that I could be.

How do I know that I ovulated from the blockes side? Huge cramps, swelling and discomfort (on that side)!

Alcohol and hCG don't interfere with each other ... go ahead and have a few!

Good luck with your next cycle!

just *in case* an ovum was released, you might want to hold off on that drink until it is certain that you are not 100% pregnant. it would really suck if you drank something and then it turned out you were pregnant (odder things have happened); and then you'd have to get all stressed out about fetal alcohol syndrome, etc., etc. In the meantime: eat something delicious (french fries, hot fudge, crab legs, whatever floats your boat!)

oh, the other reason not to drink *right now* is because alcohol diminishes your fertility; so it won't help with the overall scheme of things; plus i'm sure you've already paid a fortune for all this fertility treatment.

Sorry to belabor this point, but read this:

"Effect of Alcohol on Conception for Women
In women, alcohol affects fecundability, by disrupting the delicate balance of the menstrual cycle. Clinical research data published in the “British Medical Journal” suggests that women, who drank socially, 1-5 drinks per week, were at a greater risk of decreased fecundability when compared to women who remained abstinent. These findings underscore the importance of remaining abstinent while attempting to conceive.

Alcohol disrupts the hormonal imbalance of the female reproductive system, leading to menstrual irregularities, and even anovulatory cycles, (menstrual cycles where ovulation fails to occur). These changes can drastically decrease a woman’s chance of becoming pregnant and thus affect fertility. " (Continued at the URL below....)

And just think about it: AFTER the baby, you can have that drink!! All the best

Your embryo doesnt share your blood stream until about 8 weeks from conception when the placenta is finally formed and functional. Until then it develops and survives from a yoke sac.

Even if you got sloshed over the holidays its not going to effect your baby, unless you havent had a period is two months and theres a chance you'd be over 8 weeks pregnant.

The alcohol should not have any effect on the hCG injection.

If you're certain you're not pregnant, go ahead and indulge. Hopefully there will be plenty of time in the near future when you won't be able to!

Good luck next cycle & Merry Christmas!

I don't see a problem with it. Might even relax you some? That's the least you could do for yourself going through those horrible treatments.
I second the 'how do you know you ovulated...". That drove me crazy when I told male doctors I could feel it and they just rolled their eyes. LOL. Skol!

How do you know which side you ovulated on?! Just because of cramps doesnt mean you can know which side, if anything itd be the unblocked side since its not blocked.... If youre even trying to conceive you shouldnt be drinking at all.
