First of all John Casablancas is a school first and foremost and not a legit agency. Look at all of the questions asking about them on this site and you will find a lot of good information on why you should avoid them.

CESD Talent Agency is a legit agency and they do good work. If you can get signed with them that would be great. They have offices in New York and LA and have a division for models and a division for talent.

If you need other suggestions for agents pick up a copy of The Ross Reports ( or order one online) http://www.backstage.com/bso/rossreports/directories.jsp
There is a list of all legitimate agencies in there and if a place sounds like you might be a good fit with them go online. Do a little research and see what you can find about them. If it all looks good send them your picture and resume. From that point if you get cast in anything at all send them either a postcard size of your headshot with a note about what you have been cast in ( They want to see that yes you do get work) or another of your regular headshots with a note attached as well. If you have heard nothing from them it is not a bad idea to resubmit yourself every 6 months or so or when you make drastic changes to your appearance. ( Hair cut, noticeable weightless, etc.)

Good luck

1. Agency
2.Any agency that is SAG & AFTRA certified is fine.
3. No, John Casablancas is a huge scam.
4.CESD, is a wonderful agency, but is very exclusive. Many actors, even after dozens of movies still cant get in.
5. Also, try to act locallly; like in car delership commercials or something.

Hope I Helped.

Casablancas isn't an enterprise - it quite is a foul appearing college. pass in case you opt to - yet have not got self assurance a be conscious they say. you will no longer get 'information' there - in basic terms a rip-off. upload them on your resume and anybody interior the appearing international could in basic terms chortle. To get a real agent you're able to desire to have an outstanding resume, exhibiting a number of years at a sturdy appearing college, a lot of journey, and different skills which includes making a music and dancing. And by skill of ways - no agent 'books' you appearing jobs. All they do is aid you be responsive to the place and the thank you to be conscious for auditions for roles. it rather is as much as you to be conscious, wish you get an audition, and in case you do, to attend and attempt out. yet you will nevertheless be competing with 1000's of alternative actors to win that function. And small roles are in all risk the final you will ever get - very few actors ever get a brilliant function in something - ever.

Casablancas will take your money, provide yu with decent training but that won't necessarily get you a job.

Now when you train in college it's 4 years and they want dance or pantomime before yu can take acting, they want you to learn stage crafts.

When you audition the teacher, if they like you, will give you the entry level job of PROP PERSON

And you will put the chairs, tables, ash trays and glasss on the stage when the curtains are closed so the actors have something to work with and you will put these neatly away in the prop room when you are finished.

Colleges do classic plays so you'll end up doing everything Shakespear, Pinter, Chekov, Williams, Ibsen, Miller and the others wrote and you'll do them for a solid month.

You come out after 4 years knowing dozens of monologes by heart.

You come out with a resume of, yes, college plays but if you are at UCLA some of them might be at Royce Hall, if you are at Julliard some might be on their main stage.

This is something you want get at Casablancas.

Okay well first of all. You're gonna need alot of credits on your resume. So check out some theatres and do some plays. No agent will accept a complete nooby because they called and asked.

Once you've got some credits for your resume. Then you can call the nearest agency's. You can search your phone book or check out some other good sites. (exploretalent.com)

Then you're going to need some headshot, most likley a union card. And tones more other pointless things that will rip you of your money.

So once you have gotten your agent after mainy attempts and annoying the crap out of the agency ;) Andd you have all your other stuff, THEN you can become an "official proffesional actor" and start going on auditions.

Good Luck
(PS: i'm 15, And i did it all the same way as you did. Started from pure scratch aha.. So it's possible. Good luck!)

Let's start at the begining. An agent is not going to make you into something you all ready are not. They do not do that. Agents are not interested in new talent unless that new talent is very special. If you are just beginning, as one must assume from your age, you are not going to interest an agent.

Get you parents to support your idea of being and actor, they will have to sign for you at an agent anyway.
