I just think its not that "all of X race looks alike" I think its what you are used to. I am white and have a lot of friends that are Asian. From spending time with them I can see certain facial traits that make someone look Korean vs. someone looking Japanese. They also have the stereotype of "all Asians look the same" I know for some people of other races that aren't used to hanging out with white people they feel that all whites look the same. Its just a matter of what you are used to since skin color is the first thing you notice about someone. So to simplify I would say that your skin color makes you look like someone of your own race.

It's kind of impossible for any two people to look alike because of genetics so for anyone to say one race looks exactly alike they must be crazy

Its not so much a "saying" as something said by bigots.
People that aren't familiar with blacks my say it just because they don't deal with enough to see the differences so focus only the similarity (dark skin). People do this with animals too - people that don't own cats think all cats look alike - they really can't distinguish two tabby cats from each other whereas people that are used to cats can easily distinguish facial features.

I don't think that all blacks look alike just like all whites don't look alike.. Some are darker skinned, some have straight hair. some freckles, some don't.. I can't name all the differences but in my personal opinion all blacks do not look the same.

I've heard that saying before, but I always think it must be a joke. Is there any ethnic group wherein the people all look alike? I've never seen it.

It is a matter of having good friends in the group in question and knowing people as individuals.

Misa is closest to correct.
It's called "Race based face theory" and theory is depending on your race, you are better able to distinguish the differences. Although things such as environment plays into this as well.

That's nuts. Halle Berry does not look like Whoopie Goldberg. Anyone who says so is either blind, ignorant, stupid, or all of the above.
