Sushi is so good. I eat it about 4 times a month. I don't do much of the raw fish, but I do like the salmon, masago, and scallops raw. Octopus isn't for me but almost every sushi dish I have has eel in it! Eel is the best! It is very sweet and not at all fishy tasting. Make sure if you are going to have eel that you order it from a higher-end sushi restaurant--any place else may have the "eel bones" (if that's what it's called). Those are so gross to bite into!

Most people that say they don't like sushi have either never tried it or have only eaten cheap sushi from a fair or grocery store. Try it from a very nice sushi restaurant and then you may be pleasantly surprised.

Y'know, this is one of those questions that has vexed Great Philosophers since they invented Philosophers.

Consider, really - what is the "true sushi" to begin with? What was it made of and how was it presented, when it was invented?

It may have begun in some poor Japanese fisherman's hovel, on a dark and windy night when there was no wood for fire and everyone was STARVING hungry. Maybe they didn't have anything but some fresh mackerel and seaweed that night.

Of course, it could have been invented by some daimyo's chef who was being driven crazy to cook up something new and different for a monthly samurai meeting and feared for his neck.

Heck, sushi may have started with a British fishwife for that matter, and they just finally decided on a name when the idea reached Japan by way of those Jesuit missionaries.

Oh, this hurts to think of! WHAT IS A TRUE SUSHI EATER?

Ask my girlfriend, dear ....

I love sushi. I like the sweetness and the freshness of raw fish. My fave are eel, tuna and Salmon. Octopus is my least fave.

Yes I do, with the soya sauce of course. I eat raw fish and crab, but not eel and octopus, not yet.

Sushi is my favorite food! Yes, I eat the ahi, tako and unagi! I even eat tobiko (flying fish eggs), ama ebi (sweet shrimp), ika (squid) and hokkigai (surf clam) to name a few. Yum! I could eat sushi every day with lots and lots of wasabi!

One common misconception is that "sushi" means "raw fish". Not so. Sushi means "snack" or seasoned vinegar rice. Raw fish is "sashimi". Just in case you were curious.

Best wishes!

No, I don't like sushi. But, unlike a lot of people, I have tried it. I'm a picky eater.
