Yes its wrong, but we need to be careful not to be repressive as have this is an old form of control from old england.we need to respect our elders that has past on . I'm mixed blood myself,so to ignore one ethnicity and honor the other is bad too.To be Native American is also living to respect the creator, walking the white road. The powers of control want us to pick each other apart so not to focus on their responability. We are survivors. We need each other more than ever.

YES it's wrong and sometimes can be damaging to the ethnic group a person is assuming. Case in point: it's very cool these days to say you have Native American ancestry, but like you say many are not. But that doesn't stop them from assuming our ethnicity and actually fooling other people who are sincere in trying to find if they actually have Native American ancestry. These people mix our culture and traditions and ceremonies together like we are all the same. WE ARE NOT ALL THE SAME... And these people take money from others to perform non-authentic ceremonies which a true Native American would never charge money for.

So I have to say that HELL YES IT'S WRONG

Why would you want to be anyone else but yourself. I am part native american and Irish. I look more Irish Who cares what ethnicity any one is. Sometimes you really can't tell unless you are told.

yes it is wrong... and there ARE laws that can get some ppl in big trouble..but they bypass all that ..
decendant seems to be an offensive word to most who play native american..lets face it...if people knew someone to have had light blonde hair all theyre lives and suddenly dyed it black and started to act like a native then how does that make ones friends feel?especially when they knew them not to be indians.

That is disrespectful to your parents!! In other words you're telling them that you are not satisfied with who you are. Coolrogue said it all. And, I agree! I live in Oklahoma, USA on a reservation and I guess you learn something everyday!! People that do what you're doing are called, "wannabe's"!!

Why on earth would you want to claim to be something other than what you are.

Be PROUD of who and what you are. Love your parents for the ethnic inheritance that they gave you and be grateful for it.
