Try craigslist.com there should be one for your city.
You can also just put an ad in the Giveaway section of the newspaper or just put the stuff in the driveway with a sign FREE, it will be gone within a few hours. People love to grab the free stuff.

Take the books to a hospital, most larger hospitals do have libraries with people who go around with a cart and offer books to patients..Or you could go to an area Retirement Home and donate, they are always wanting books..
Glass decorative items do quite well on E-bay..Anything else just offer in a FREE Box outside your home...You will be surprised what disappears!

Find another thrift store. Or have a yard sale. Or put the things in a box in front of your house/apartment with a sign that says "free today."

There is, as you say, E-Bay.
Or you could join your local Free-cycle group and offer the things you want to get rid of there.
Have you considered donating your books to the library? They might have a use for them, either as is or to raise funds to buy new books.
Good luck!

Go to: Freecycle.org and sign up for your area. The idea is green. Don't throw it away, offer to someone else, keeping the the earth from excess trash.

There's a site called Freecycle that could help you out. See if they have a group in your area, if not start one!
