john elway is the better qb. john elway had less weapons to work w/ in denver through most of his career until the end. elway had a rocket of an arm. he has the ability to win a game by himself (which very few qbs can do). he led his teams to multiple super bowls. he was the face of a franchise for so long. he's denver's babe ruth. although he wasn't a better runner than young, he was a great scrambler that waited until a reciever was open & then rocketed the ball to him. he has multiple pro bowl apearances.
i like young but when he was in tampa when he had less weapons to work w/ when he was the man he couldn't cut it. he couldn't carry his team. when he came to san francisco the team was already loaded & all he had to do was carry the team where joe montana left off at. if i had to build a team right now between those 2 qbs i would pick john elway in a heartbeat

Steve Young emerged from the shadows of arguably the greatest quarterback of all time (Joe Montana). The very fact that Young emerged out of the shadows of someone that great is nothing short of amazing. Besides, Young has more rings, and the ring that Elway won would not have been if it wasn't for Terell Davis (a Running Back).
Yeah, Young had Rice, but Rice is a WR. Hell, Brady has Moss! Are you going to short change him too? He still had to THROW it to him. Elway had a RUNNING BACK (aka "all I have to do is hand it off") in Terell Davis, and without Terell Davis...NO RING for ELWAY!

I would pick John Elway
John Elway, because he was more consistent through out his career.. He is the master of comeback.. He is one of the best clutch players in NFL...
Steve Young in his early careers he was very bad, that's why Tampa Bay released him.. He became good QB under Bill Walsh's west coast system.. so my conclusion:Without Bill Walsh = No Hall of Fame for Steve Young...

Elway: Because Steve Young had Jerry Rice to throw to, Elway didn't.

Its a draw cause Young had Rice to throw to and Elway had Davis and Sharp...Both players were and are Hall of Famers...But if I had to choose it would be Elway...he was a pure passer and he really never feared to put his body on the line.

C'mon, get serious. This is an insult to Elway. However, Young was better than Montana.

They were both fantastic QB's. Why does one have to be better than the other?
