Im nearing the age where i will no longer grow anymore 21 in 5 months... And i begin to notice my own family is beginning to discriminate against my height. I stand at 5'6 inches tall and skinny build but toned. My own mother treats me like a preteen, i asked her why she treats me with little respect and not on a adult adult level and she said boldly, "because your short". I was shocked. My cousins who are younger than me make fun of me, like "im only 16 and im taller than you *6'1'' kid" At a sit down last nite my family said, "he probably doesnt have a girlfriend because hes so short." And saying stuff like "I dont get it why hes so short and his parents is so tall." 3 of my cousins began to hit home saying "Hes always so depressed because hes short, if he was tall he wouldnt be." Im now in college again after a break and i notice its getting worse. Women bring it up, guy friends bring it up. Even my prof discriminate against my height. Does it get worse as you age and wont grow any.

You have to exude confidence in other abilities. Your genes set you up to stand at 5'6" and that is that. There is no surgery to heighten a man and please do not develop Napoleon simplex - short man disease- You will definitely be perceived as negative and short, not just short.

Actually, my first BF was 5'6", I was OK with it, he destroyed it by always griping about his height and forcing me to validate his height was OK with me. I would not be with you if it was a problem. I stood at 5'4" at the time and even with heels he was a little taller.

Again, be confident in YOU and know the people who are so senseless and mean are irrelevant. They will be the same ones asking you to bail them out of jail, loan them some money or admiring your statuess model wife - look at Eddie Murphy? Ludicrous? Hang in there! A girlfriend does not define you and your height dayum sure doesn't either, unless the girl is shallow and can't handle the comments like you.

BIG THINGS come in small packages!! ie intelligence, humor, bank account...oh, you thought I was talking about something else, hungh? Perhaps!

Sort of. People like to attempt to use you for an armrest (remedied by a sharp and direct blow to the solar plexus), or they tend to think you have a chip on your shoulder because of it. I don't, but I'm not a toy, either. (I also stand 5'6").
It's never stopped me from doing anything I've found worthwhile from jumping out of planes to dating compelling women...and I generally don't notice my height until someone else notices it for me.
At times in my life it has made me more competitive and more aggressive than my taller contemporaries, but I have mellowed into a balanced state where that type of posturing is less necessary (as I have nothing to prove). Basically, you won't miss out on anything in life worth having. Everyone has something to deal with; just play the hand you've been dealt. Good luck to you, and Happy Holidays.

I dont see why your own familly treats you like that, they allways must be your support.if you are a nice person, your height is not very important, there are people, like myself who doesn't give any importance for that like your environment.be strong and you'll see when you get older you will not give any significancy to your height.I'm on youre side!
