Some people prefer to eat out rather than cook.

For those people, holidays provide an oppertunity to dine out rather than prepare their own meal.

For many others however, home cooking is part of the tradition of families getting together for the holidays.

In either case, people enjoy the opportunity to eat better during the holidays, and usually they eat more than they would during other times.

Happy holidays to you !

I nearly ALWAYS eat out. It's so much easier, I can eat a great variety of food - the people who cook for me are all experts from different regions. I eat Papaya salad from a shop about 1/3km walk down the road. I eat noodles almost anywhere. For special dinners I go to one of 5 cheap restaurants within a radius of 3km - cheap, but extremely good.

Why waste time eating at home? washing dishes? Who thinks home cooking is really better than a good restaurant? I also enjoy the social aspect of meeting other people, being served, and simply sitting and eating.

I think the main reason people eat at home is:

1; They can afford a good cook at home
2. They're too lazy to go out and eat good food
3. They live somewhere where it's too expensive to eat out regularly (as in most western countries)
4. They don't like variety.
5. They are chefs, and cook a great variety of food anyway.

People eat out on holidays mostly for two reasons-1) They have no place else to go, and 2) they are alone. In both cases they chose to be around other people (we are pack animals after all) rather than be alone. It helps them cope with loneliness.

If you know someone who has no place to be on the holidays invite them over. Ask them to bring their favorite dish from their celebrations to share. It is amazing how good a holiday dinner can be with people sharing traditions, food, memories, and company.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Maybe because they don't want the mess at home. Especially if there's company. It gives you more time to visit. Are maybe because everyony likes a different meal and it's just to difficult to fix a meal to please everybody. There are lots of reasons.
