I dont really want to call random places and ask. Just wondered if they list it, are there any where you live, things like that. My husband and I love children, but it seems every time we are out of town, Atlanta,Panama City, Orlando, Charlotte....we chose a nice place for dinner and feel we've wasted alot of money since there was a screaming child beside us.

not entirely sure ,but some restaurants on purpose frown on children.tricks they can use;no child's menu,no high chairs, loud music, pricey menu.you expressed a very worthy complaint.as a former GM and current chef i would say that if it does happen again ask to talk to the manager and say "it's hard to enjoy our experience with the screaming/yelling/whatever is problem, could you do something?"put it back on them to solve problem, don't let off the hook, they would like to ignore it.

Hey,
I know how you feel. I am a dedicated DINK (Double Income, No Kids) and sometimes, though I love children, their behavior (or, more accurately, their parents inability to control them) make things unpleasant for both of us.
But I think removing children from a dining room is something that most restaurants frown on. It's bad for business, and they get a repuation for being hard nosed.
There are a few places in Atlanta that I can reccommend to you, though.
The Capital Grill, Johnny's Hideaway, the Sundial Restaurant, and Trader Vic's are all places that seem to have atmospheres that might be to your liking. Try them the next time you're in town.

The problem is not the children, it is the parents who allow their "little angels" to raise a ruckus, and the management of the restaurant that is afraid of offending the parents my telling them that the must control their children or leave!
Children can be taught to behave in a restaurant. I know that when I was a child, eating out was a treat, and misbehavior was dealt with quickly and severely. I have seen families at restaurants today where the children know how to act, and you can see that the parents have done their job!
The problem is the parents who are afraid to do anything that will make little Johnny or Susie feel bad about themselves. The allow the children to run wild, and the worst thing they will say will be something like "if you do not use your indoor voice, you will get a time out"!
Restaurant management needs to take control, and risk losing the business of the parents who are not controlling their children. If not, they will lose more business because civilized people will not return.

I hear you!!!!!!! I remember when children were made to behave.
Try a privately owned bar type rest or pub. A place 21 and older. You may have to put up with smoke but no kids. My boss has a second business a bar in Stone Mountain, GA, good food, no kids, but they allow smoking. Good luck and when you have a place with people not keeping their kids under con trol, speak to the management. If they don't help don;t go back there.
Stay away from the chain restaurants .
Good Luck

amen to that! I have been in the restaurant biz for 28 years and i wish someone would make that list, although it would be discriminatory. I do however recommend what we do, go to small out of the way eclectic places in the city that are a bit more costly that chain restaurants. anything with a "fusion" menu you are not likely to see children. another tip, call restaurants and ask if the have a childrens menu, if they do, hang up, if not, make reservations!

Yeah, they're called bars. Other than places like that I think it's illegal to ban children.
