If W won 51% to 49%, and his ratings are now 28%, then not only did 49% get it right, 23% have joined the ranks, and they came from SOMEWHERE!!!

I'm an Independent but I'll chime in, I absolutely despise today's style of republican politics. I've never been a fan of republican politics, I have always viewed the GOP as a party that is pro-business while being anti-worker. Over the years it has devolved into the religious right, the moral majority, the contract with America, all of which the base bought into to bring us to the corruption and spending that we have today from the GOP. Now they just repeat the mantra while thumbing their noses at their own base. This president is willing to drag his whole party down with Iraq and whatever his true reasons for being there and run us into massive debt in the process. Take a good look around America today, it's the cumulative effect that republicans have had over the past several years that you see. Jobs going overseas, industry after industry folding, home foreclosures at all time highs, fuel costs at all time highs, corporate America profits at all time highs. Our liberties being compromised for the sake of "security" even though the borders are still wide open six full years after nine-eleven. A flood of illegals coming into our country and marching in our streets demanding rights of citizens. A war most of America wants ended. Massive debt at home and with our trading partners. A very shaky economy and an extremely secretive administration. All accomplished under republican control of government. To make matters worse, the democrats aren't much better. We are under attack from our own government and there are going to be few survivors coming out unscathed.

I am proud to be a member of the party of Lincoln, I have a problem with some of the fellow groups though. I loath the Christian Taliban and the Isolationist Libertarians. If you've half a brain, that's all it takes to be a Christian Taliban or a Libertarian.
The Christian Taliban and ignorant backwards Libertarians are however, better than anyone the Democrats are fielding.
I do have a bias, I can't stand communists.

Absolutely!
Todays Republican candidates keep trying to out "conservative" each other, all the while continuing to abandon their core conservative principles.
The libs will tell you that the Republicans lost the last elections because of the war in Iraq.
They couldn't be more wrong.
The Republicans lost because of their spend, spend, spend mentality.
We didn't show up at the voting booths because of that. It wasn't because the libs garnered more support.

The Neoconservatives or NeoCons have ruined are party professing a love of Small Government just an empty promise. If Ron Paul does not gain the nomination I am leaving because of broken promises.

I was CONCERNED back in 1982 when the "Moral Majority" started creeping into the Party's leadership.... I'm DISGUSTED since we took the Congressional majority and the Congress started behaving like Democrats (gimme gimme gimme, spend spend spend).
In 2004 I changed my registration to "Independent"

Yes. I have been sold up the river and feel completely betrayed by the Republicans. I knew I should have stayed registered as an Independent.
