I try to be what I am .I am neither apologetic nor ashamed of it in any way. I tried to imitate some role models/successful or popular people but I was aptly asked,'Why you? Original would be better!' You need not try to be 'different from others ' just as well. If you feel many are like you or you are like many, you are only stating the 'normal'. Many times when we try to be somebody or deliberately try to be different we end up being odd/awkward/unnatural or a weirdo and a laughing stock! Not necessary at all. If you want to be different try to 'become'somebody different by striving hard in life with greater motivation and you will automatically stand out.You will be noticed in a gathering ,one need not worry about it ,that should come from genuine difference that you can make in a conference/meeting/ profession in general and not just trying to be different, you will be noticed for different reasons!!

I try to be similar but different at the same time. You want to be part of a group but you want to stand out and make people say wow look at that person rather than saying oh yeah so-and-so are always trying to act like that, its stupid.
