Rub an ice cube on it, or make a bag of ice water and hold it against it. The wax will harden. Lightly scrape with a hard edge. The wax will leave an oily residue that will permeate and possibly carry the color of the candle into the paint.

put several paper towels on the wax, then use an iron set with no steam. The wax will melt and the paper towels with absorb the wax.
This should get rid of most of the wax.

You ca try paper towels and a warm iron. place the paper towels over the wax and rub the towel with the warm iron. The wax will melt and be absorbed by the paper towels but as said before you still might end up with a oily residue.

You might try freezing it. If the area is too large for ice, try Dry Ice, it will freeze faster. Then you can flake it off, but paint may come with it.
Good luck.
