Also, what degree do you have and did you attend any field schools or other programs?

I earned a B.A. with honors, an M.A. and nearly a PhD.
As an undergraduate, I attended two summers of archaeology field schools. While in graduate school I was working fairly regularly in historic sites archaeology, (CRM, EPA compliance).
I pursued that career in contract historic sites archaeology, and was pretty good at it, but found I couldn't keep up with the itinerant field work as a single mom. I retooled for museum work. The pay-scale in museum work is lousy.
Now I do consulting in living history and18th c. material culture, but I don't make a living at it!
I know two other anthropology majors. One is a professional musician, and the other is a producer for TV commercials in Hollywood.
Anthropology is a great subject to study, even to major in, but I'd advise you not to expect to make a living at it in the real world. If I had it to do over again, I think I'd have done the same, but I would have also picked up a nursing degree so I'd have a steady "day job"!

I had a double major with biology, but didn't have the chance to get more than a bachelors. Can't do much in anthro without at least a Masters...so I ended up using the bio degree to get a job in a lab. Science is great, but plan on more than four years to get a really good job.
