First and foremost, from the body/brain. The evolution of mankind bred this into us...by natural selection of the species best suited to exploit a particular ecological niche.

We have been so conditioned to accept this natural instinctual condition that many of us foolishly think it is from the realm of mind.

I will just duplicate what I have answered since this is a duplicate question.....

Only animals have instinct, so I think you mean 'intuition.'

Human intuition comes from either the human spirit or the soul. The human soul itself is tripartite in nature, i.e. it consists of the MIND, the EMOTIONS, & THE WILL.

The skills belonging to the sportsman is partly A GIFT or A TALENT from God which can be enhanced through exercise, training & experience.

The same with other gifts like, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, writing, etc. This is why those with such gifts are described as 'gifted' or 'talented.'

Edit:
Self-correction: instinct is more strongly pronounced in the animal kingdom, but human beings also do exhibit a bit of it every now & then, e.g. maternal instinct.
