If you're insinuating that EITHER of these men were EVER funny then I'm afraid I just cannot agree with you. The Marx Brothers, Abbott & Costello, Laurel & Hardy and Little & Large(!) all fall into the same category too as far as I'm concerned - BORING. Sorry ! ! !

When it comes to physical comedy they both were great. Harold Lloyd also deserves to be mentioned.
Chaplin mainly survived catastrophe through luck and good will. He was often put in situations which would make the audience pity and sympathies him.
Keaton was often in the same compromising circumstances
but he always maintained a certain sense of confidence and optimism. A determined poker-face never seemed to show a loss of hope.
Even though Charlie Chaplin is much more popular, I personally prefer Buster Keaton. Mainly because they were involved in physical comedy and when it comes down to it Buster Keaton was physically more capable. Chaplin was animated and memorable for how he looked with his funny little mustache and twirling cane, but Keaton was more memorable in what he did.
In Steamboat Bill Jr Keaton lets a three-story building weighing over 2 tons come down on him, trusting his planning that he’ll fit through a small window space. This is the most daring stunt in cinematic history and one in which Keaton has inspired many modern day actors such a Jackie Chan.
