My computer just woke me up make this noise.

First off, I know a lot about computers but this is really puzling me.

You know how when you load a program or a website your computer makes the "gringing..or growling" sound more or less making the "working sound".

Well, it woke me up sounds like a clock doing it EVERY second, and it wont stop. It sounds like it kinda ticking.

YES this sounds weird. I KNOW!

I did the control alt delete, there are no weird programs running, I restarted it, shut it down for 5 mins and started it back up, etc. etc. Its still doing it.

Does anyone have ANY idea what it is?

It has been on for a few days in a row, we work on it. The screen saver was on.

We just did a scan disk and defragment (matter of a fact, its how the PC sounds, when you defrag a computer).

Also, we haved blown it out with air lately? Could it be the fan not working?

I dont know...

I am shutting it down for now, thanks in advance for ANY help!

Like the others above have said it is either a bearing in the fan or a hard drive that is slowly failing. If it is the hard drive then I would suggest backing up all your data. A image isn't necessary as you will have to install Windows and other software on a new hard drive anyway. Once you have backed everything up goto http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm and take a look at Spinrite. It isn't free but it is well worth the money. It could save your hard drive. It has done for me in the past and if you look at the testimonials it seems to have done the same thing for lots of other people as well.

Your hard drive has bad sectors
There is no way to fix it
but if you format your computer it might go away for sometime but it will start again
and one day your hard disk will stop working
My advice is that you consult an expert and make sure that what I told you is correct
and if it is then preserve your important files somewhere else and get a new hard disk

Yes it could be the bearing in a fan showing signs of age and failure ... or more seriouslty it could be the same thing happening to your hard-drive ... back up all your Data imediately and if possible "Ghost" an image of your current hard-drive to a new one ... drives are cheap and even if it's not your hard-drive you'll have a complete backup of everything
