Only humans have beliefs of any kind. Our uniquely evolved brains allow us to be deluded (or enlightened, depending on your point of view) in this way. Other animals function on instinct. While their instincts can be modified through training or experience, their brains are not wired for religion, philosophy, art appreciation, or any other sort of belief system. Science has proved beyond doubt that animals do not (and cannot) think the way we do and do not have human emotions.
