Ok i never study, waste my time on everything but studies. I just study one day before exam and manage to get like average or above average marks. My iq is like 120.My mom also says that i'm very intelligent and i'm wasting it all. Now today we had a viva in which very difficult questions were asked most of us didn't know those(only 1 student out of our 15 people batch knew it). Now the thing is she is my friend. She studies too much. Sir praised her so much. I dunno why but i'm so so jealous rite now. I just want to be at that position. I want to know and study all that stuff. But i just can't. I've read all concentration techniques. I just can't get myself away from distractions. Now this time my latest distraction is a row i had with a friend some days ago and this jealousy thing i just had. Please help me it just won't go. I daydream a lot. And yes i'm also taking anti depressents. Only serious answers please.

Oh gosh, I know. I have the same problem!
I used to be a really good student and I'm really smart, I guarantee but I just can't stop myself from distractions.. like the computer, music, ppl, etc..

I'm really jealous of my best friend too. I actually asked a similar question, but anywhoo!

I think what you should do is not take things for granted. When I do I always feel like I don't have the right to have fun so instead I try to study WITH my best friend and it sort of helps! At least with a couple of questions and you won't be alone, so don't feel jealous even though it is very hard, I would know. What you have to do is try to keep yourself and mantain yourself as positive as you can be and try to study at school. Listen to what the teachers say and keep yourself alert so that when you get home you can do homework and do whatever you want. And when the exams come you can still study and even if you have distractions, you payed attention in class with some details.

Well g'luck! =D

Please be assured that when others think we are smart, even ourselves, there is always, I repeat, always someone else whom is smarter! That's just life.
[ that doesn't mean that their personality/character is better than yours tho'! ] Studying is tough, so try to find time to 'talk with yourself' and see what it is that is hindering your studying.

You could see if you are just procrastinating.. concerned about things that you can not do anything about.. or need a good studying coach/tutor or study at school. [this helps to focus & keep your mind off of outside concerns] At school or a library, you will focus on your studies better than at home, sometimes. Study in a room that is different that where you normally study. Do your studies first, before what you really would rather do. [work, then the treat!]

Some jealousy is ok, it's very normal and human. Catch your self when you do get jealous and understand that it's ok; don't get too carried away because it can damper your future studies and may control your feelings to the point of obsession which isn't good for anyone.
Keep doing your great work and much success with your schooling!
Best wishes to you and yours and have a great next year!

Why not try to study in small time blocks, and I don't mean 30 minute blocks. Try more like 5 minutes and then work yourself up to that. Too bad you are wasting your intelligence away. My IQ is 131 and I get distracted easily but I give myself small rewards once I'm done reading, say 10 pages. For you 10 pages is too much. Try the first subtopic of a book and reward yourself when you're done with something small (don't reward yourself with 30 minutes of video games) I reward myself with a snack like an oreo cookie and a 5 minute break. Try it, this technique has worked for me very well. And about the jealousy, since you are depressed (i assumed from the anti-depressants) it is normal to feel that way. Did you know that unhappy people report feeling happier when they did bad on an assignment but they know that fellow classmates did worse? They also report feeling MORE UNHAPPY when they get excellent scores but know someone else did better than themselves.

I had the same basic study for quite some time. I got out of the habit by starting a routine over one of my holiday breaks. I set up a space to work and then did some paperwork or something like that every day at the same time of day. If you do decide to give this method a try, be sure to pick a time that lets you continue doing work at the same time of day when you are no longer on holiday, I recommend some time in the afternoon.

hmm.. this problem is not that seveare you can get control of it. You need to relax before you go to work. Think about ervything you want to beforhand. Once you get bored open your books and start writing. While your doing homwork give yourself a motive to keep your from distractionl such as "i"m gonna be better, prettier, and smarter then her."

You should never ever get any negative thoughts in your mind such as you said that you cannot get yourself away from distractions. You just say no to it.
You just don't be in hurry.Always be cool.

And first you should have a goal in your life.If you have a goal you yourself will see you getting away from being distracted.

When you see things that distract you from your goal just say these words to yourself "I am not born to lose".
You MUST have the self control in yourself.
