prayer and diverting your attention the very second you begin to obsess. If i'ts not life threatening/urgent, don't give it any thought. There are far more important things that I'm sure deserve your attention. Not to mention, if it's not positive and ''adding'' to your life, don't waste valuable time on it.

Yes it is, and CBT has shown to be the most effective.
You use a combination of thought strategies and behavioral modification to overcome the anxiety that builds up when you do not perform the obsession...in a nutshell...

It is absolutely possible. Put you mind to work on something else when you start to think of the "thing" you do. It takes alot of patients but you can do it. Close your eyes and count or turn and walk away. Repeatedly tell your self No. I works it does take time though. Believe you can and you will get passed it.

Aversion therapy.
Start off with asceticism and the denial of the flesh. If that doesn't work, go for mortification of the flesh and penance. If that fails, try electrodes.

Depends on what it is. One good method is looking it up on Google, and you can also ask a psychologist/psychiatrist to see if they have any advice.
