I'm not Chris Tiu, but you can use my answer as a comparison if you want.

The hardest time in my life was high school (I'm 23 now and in college) and the only way I got through it was just by waiting it out. The few friends I had helped a ton, but because we were the 'freak' crowd we were ostracized as a group. Having someone else who understood what I was going through was very important.

Everybody must have/be to encounter difficult things to cope with which is far beyond her/his capacity/patience. So this question or problem is a universal one. Both the coping styles and the possible ways depond the nature, the degree, the duration and the timepoint of the encounter as well as the personality, the ability of the suffered. So there is no specific method. But I believe that we could/should survive not only relying on ourselves but also seeking for supportive strength from the society and in our family.

Do you mean, like, what's harder being 18 or being 80?

I think there is no set "difficult stage of life" for everybody. It varies widely from person to person. Every stage of life has its difficulties and its pleasures. Some people have pretty severe difficulties throughout their lives; other people are lucky enough to breeze through.

I don't know about any Chris, but death must be the most difficult stage to deal with. I think that one must deal with death, ironically ,by going through it. I can see no other way.

The next stage is always the most difficult. Life never seems easy, except when we look back. Difficulties make us stronger in the long run, as long as we learn from them.
That's my opinion anyway.
