I just opened it and there is a thin layer of some green liquid, is it safe to eat?

That is disgusting, unless it's like herbs or something mixed in the sauce, but if it's liquid it is not good at all throw it away

I would throw it away. If you bought it recently and have the receipt. You can ask for a refund or exchange.
