same as luka but when they gave me the drug to induce the stronger contractions caused my water to break when my baby wasnt positioned well, and he dropped on his umbilical cord. Emergency c section.
Not happy they gave me the drug cause i didnt want it from the begining and if they hadnt i might have delivered normaly.
But im happy that they did the c section in a timely manner because my baby wasnt getting oxygen.

If everything goes well, you and baby should leave the hospital in 24 hours.
I am currently 39 weeks prego, but with my first...the delivery was fine. No meds at all, no tearing or ripping and I was only in real labor for about 2 hours. When the head and shoulders are coming out, it burns really bad. Just push when your Doctor tells you too and try to stay calm through the contractions. They can take your breath away! Try to think of it like this, women have babies everyday so it can't be that bad!

Hello..i had my baby boy nov.6th of this year. I was really nervous as well but when the time came I was just like ok lets do this! You don't really have time to be nervous you will know what to do :) I would say that I was lucky it actually went well for me. My waters actually broke the day I was supposed to be induced, at 10am went to the hospital right away, they gave me pitocin through the IV to speed up labor, and he was born at 9:07pm that night, 1 and a half hours of pushing wasn't that bad but by the end I felt like giving up good thing he came out by then. He was 8 lbs 5 oz, I was so happy I didn't tear or anything, so I was out of the hospital in one day! I had to ask to leave after a day because they usually want you to stay for a few days I guess, but my boy and I were doing well :) Oh and do your breathing exercises! When I was having my contractions I was breathing so fast the nurse tried telling me to breath slowly but I couldn't at all they had to put that oxygen mask on me between the contractions......Don't be nervous you will do great! After you look back you will be so proud of yourself. CONGRATS:D

Oh, I promise it's going to be okay! I just had my fifth baby. I've had ones with the epidural and ones without. I always stayed in the hospital as long as I could to make sure I had as much help as needed getting used to things. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions. :o) Whether or not you want an epidural, don't let anyone pressure you either way. It's your body and it's up to you. I personally liked the epidural because my experience was much more fun and I was more aware with what was going on. Epidurals do not make you feel drugged up or sleepy. I loved smiling, pushing out a baby. Without the epidural, it was really tough but it is bearable. Do what you want! No pressures. :o) Enjoy your first pregnancy and your little one.

I will have a birth story soon enough but until then I love reading others. As far as the hospital stay, I won't likely be having one because I am delivering at home with hubby and a midwife on standby.

Congrats.

to answer the second half of your question you can stay for as little as 6 hours to long as three days unless you have a c-section (which I wouldn't recommend unless it is for an emergency) (that is in Australia anyway) being your first I would ask the midwife or doctor what the longest stay is and stay as long as what I could.

My first baby I started getting cramps at about 12 midnight on Wednesday morning and I stayed at home while my mother in law and sister in law sat with me because my partner had to work. my sister in law brought us red rooster for lunch and then I had a shower and went to sleep. when I woke up about 2hours later the pain intensified and my partner was home so he took me to the hospital. they gave me an examination and told me that I was not in labour and put me into a observation room. eventually the pain got really bad (WORST PAIN EVER) then they took me to the birthsuit and all wanted was a hot shower, so they got me into shower ( in such a small space there were alot of people {and I was completely naked}
the people in there were a Dr. Two midwives myself and my partner.) eventually there was only one midwife and she was due to go for her break and told my husband that if any should happen to press the red emergency button.

well no sooner had she left that I had to start pushing so he pushed the button and all these people came out of nowhere. eventually they got me of the shower chair and into the floor and midwofe kicked out all the other people except for my partner and the baby was deliverd on the shower floor and the only drug I used was gas. she was born at 6am in the morning.

My second baby was born on the bed I went into l abour at about midnight. my husband (as we got married) took me to the hospital and then once I was on the ward left and took my other child top her nans house and then came back, nothing exciting ion this labour except because I wasnt doing as I was told the nurse gave me some drugs which made me feel better.

water broke at 35 weeks. went into the hospital. 7 hours of painful labor with no meds. epidural.... sigh of relief. then given the induction drug even tho i was having a perfect labor. the pitocin made my son's heartrate slow down so i had an emergency c section. 5 day hospital stay. just don't let them give you the induction drug unless you REALLY need it. everything will be fine

I am going on my 7th. Its really not that bad. I have enjoyed every moment of it. All of them were born in the backseat of our mobile home, we were on vacation.
