He may be constipated. But if there's blood in his stool I would call his pediatrician. Have his answering service page him. If not call the hospital and ask for someone to answer your question. (but they usually say bring him in).
for constipation you can get baby enemas from the drug store. Ask the parmasist there whats best, he may even be able to give you info on the blood too.
Im sorry but I dont understand why a one month old would have a formula with rice starch in it. Im sure you know thats what your supposed to be feeding him though.

I would talk to your doctor about switching formulas. Rice is constipating, so is iron, so the two together would not do good things for your little ones digestion. I nursed, but when I had to use a bottle, I used Similac with Iron, or Isomel with Iron, and my children did just fine.

It sounds like constipation - if it is that bad you need to see a doctor. There are things you can do to help with relieving it - you need to increase the amount of water you drink, light exercise also helps and you should eat more in the way of fresh fruit and vegetables (at least 5 DIFFERENT ones a day!) however for almost instant relief my parents swear by syrup of figs!

It is probably the formula and you might need to switch to "Gentle Ease". If not, my son had the same problem and I just had to give him half or quarter of a suppository. Probably only a quarter of one for you son but check with doctor first! Even if you just call them.

sounds like to much iron. My son was on that at first to and was having so many tummy and gas problems. I switched him to goodstart and it was like a dream after that.
ps. I tried gentlease before this and my son hated it. He would make a nasty face when I tried to give it to him, lol. bc they only make it in powder. You need to call your dr bc blood iin his stool (anyones) is never good. To much iron DEF
