It wouldn't be appropriate because it would be an insult to Pistol Pete.

You could compare Steve Nash to Pistol Pete, but Pete would still be on top. He was an original. An incredible gym rat, who could pass, dribble and shoot.
His college scoring avg was in the 40's for all 4 years.
I think that had he not had an issue with drugs, his career could have lasted longer than 10 years. At his best he was something else.

It would be considered an insult to Pete Maravich. Steve Nash doesn't do anything to be even close to being compared to him. Pete Maravich wasn't a wimp, he could play defense, he took care of the ball better, and he was just a better all around player then Nash will ever be.

Steve's a great player and I have a lot of respect for him but I think it's too early to compare him to pistol Pete. Pistol Pete was a way better defender than Steve though Steve should be the better passer. Anyways both can compare notes in the HOF. Go suns!!!

Cheers!

It's hard to do so considering the difference in eras. However, I've heard various announcers who were players who played in the time of Maravich make the comparison, and from what I know about Maravich, Nash is the closest to being like him of anybody I've seen. They both have the shaggy hair and the crazy passes that seems like only they could make/ would even attempt and ball-handling ability.

In terms of passing, i think Pistol takes it, but being a leader, i think Steve is the better of the two. But no doubts, pistol is a much better scorer than steve.

Pradeep, If they played in the same era, I'd say yes. But since they don't, I'd have to say that's a negative ghost-rider!!!
