Because no matter how hard or how many times you put a rock to your ear and talk into it, you're not gonna get a person on the other side. What's my point?
In order to become perfect at something you have to understand it at the core. You have to become it, feel it and let it take over you for a while. You have to know what its like to be that thing which you are trying to master. The key word is understanding.
Now if you understand that a rock is not a phone for obvious reasons, then you know that no matter how long you talk into it, it will never yield the same response as a phone.

If you keep on practicing, you will go into the next level.
Your muscles memorize the rote, so does your brain cells. When it all comes together, the brain and the muscles, you go up the notches. It is the place where you do not think about it, it becomes second nature. You do not make mistakes. You are ready now to learn the next stage., mastery perfection, listening to your muse, it will come.

no matter how much you practice?... If you are 80 and have spent ~70 years practicing then you have an honest question. If you are as young as you seem then I think your question is flawed as there is room for more practicing. Patience is a rare treasure, practice more!!

Because it is the LAST step that costs.
This is true in art (if one searchs Perfection) but also in science: the more you accelerate particles in a cyclotron the more energy it costs, and the increase is exponential.
This is only an example among others...

Practice doesnt make you perfect.
But it gets you a heck of a lot closer.
Its truly meant to lessen mistakes, mishaps, and brain freezes. Also meant to improve your focus, skills, and discipline.

Maybe you need to find out what is perfect for you. What are your limits? What are your strengths?
