I would say that these days the most common regift is gift cards. Yes I have regifted. I work in health care, and often my clients or thier loved ones like to give lotions or bath products as gifts. These are often unexpected gifts, and I can only use so many in a year. I regift them when I am faced with a friend or client that I did not think would expect a gift for me, or I hold on to them and regift them through out the year. As far as I am aware no one knows, or has been offended by a regift. I would not be offended if I found out that something was regifted to me.

Well the common joke is fruitcake. And I believe the store bought fruitcake deserves that reputation. Not a fruitcake fan myself, but I have to say that no one would ever regift a properly made fruitcake. But then most folks aren't gonnas actually make it themselves, they'll go out and buy it then you'll find it being given again and again to everyone you know throughout the month.

My family regifts vases, envelope openers, candles and those little gift beauty sets.
People probably did realise but didn't say anything!
Although one time on Christmas morning I have a gift to my nephew for Christmas, and that night his mother gave me the same wrapping back on my present, complete with the creases I'd made!

Fruitcake - I re-gifted a candle once because it smelled really bad. The person I gave it to gave it to the person that gave it to me. She asked me what happened to the candle about a month later and I said that my cat knocked it off the counter but that I really did like it. She then told me that our mutual friend had given her one and that she only used vanilla in her house because that was the only scent her husband liked - she ran down to her house and gave it to me again. LOL. I burn it every time she comes over so she can suffer with me. Moral of the story...if you re-gift then make sure it is to someone that doesn't have ANY contact with the person you gave it to or it may come back to haunt you.

I re-gift gift cards
I don't think the people are ever 100% sure. I gave a Borders bookstore gift card back to the person who gave it to me several months later.

Fondue Sets and Punch Bowls I still have several of both because I can't find anyone to give them to, and I know for a fact the person I got that from did not buy it for me!
