I want to name my baby either Carrie or Karrie.
Please tell me this..
do you REALLY think she'll be made fun of and everyone will be reminded of the stephen king book?

It just came to me earlier.. of all the names I thought of, this is the perfect one for me.

Please let me know.

I think that movie is too old to affect your daughter when shes older. By then nobody will be watching it or even remember it. Either spelling is good it just depends on how traditional you want it too look. If you are into tradition spell it Carrie but if you like something more new age spell it Karrie.

Carrie is an older book and movie.. so kids her ages may or may not even know about it.. chances are.. by the times her peers learn about the book or movie Carrie.. your daughter will already have a reputation that is good and they won't associate it.. now if they don't like your daughter then the can cruely use that as a crutch and mock her as the character Carrie.

If you are going to go with Carrie or Karrie.. I would definatley do a different spelling.. stay away from Carrie spelling altogether.. maybe do Karrie, Keri, or Kerry, or Kerri.. I can go on.. but a different spelling willl help disassociate her name with the Steven King character.

Finally .. her reputation will make a difference. My name is Christine.. and even though when I was growing up the movie and book by Steven King of Christine came out.. I never heard any sort of mocking about my name. And why? Because I already had a reputation set out.

Kids make fun of other kids because they dont' like them.. that's the difference.

You can also do variations of Carrie.. like Karol.. and then her nick name can be Karrie.

hello and congrats with the baby! I think Carrie or Karrie would be great and I don't believe it would be associated with the horror movie from Stephen King. :-) I like the "Karrie" just because it's a little different. Look at it this way.. by the time she is in school most kids won't even know who Carrie from that movie was and hopefully when she is older they will be mature enough that she wouldn't get teased .. etc. If your heart said Carre/Karrie pick it... and everything will be fine. :-))
hope this helps some! <3

How about Carianne? I love that name! There are so many forms of the name Carrie, spelled with either a C or a K.

I personally know of people with these spellings:

Carrie
Cari
Kari
Karre (pr. Kaw-ry)
Kerry
Kerri
Kerrie
Keri

The possibilities are endless. It is a lovely name though, no matter how it's spelled. Don't let a work of fiction ruin it for you. The lead character could have been named anything. It just happened to be Carrie. No big deal.

Well, the stephen king book I do not think so. I think that is a nice name. Carrie. Well, if this name is the perfect one for you then go ahead and name your child that.

I like the name spelled Carrie. I don't think that anyone will make fun of her because of the Stephen King book. It's not like it's a recent book. . . . Good for you for thinking of these things though!! :)

I'm thinking of the name Kari myself :)

I think it's a great name! Who cares what other people think? By the time she's old enough to be teased, the other kids won't have any idea who "Carrie" was lol. Too big of an age gap!

Congrats!
