I dont think you can sleep inside the security area of D-FW airport, as I have seen the TSA close the gates at night.

The restaurants, bars, shops etc all close at around 10 or 11 PM.

Added: I have seen folding cots provided (from the airline, I think) for passengers stranded by cancelled flights (weather, etc) but in Dallas this may not be an option.

There is a hotel within airport property (the Hyatt Regency). You won't be allowed to sleep in the airport, unless you can do so sitting up in one of those uncomfortable chairs at each gate.

I'm sure the Hyatt Regency has a bar that's open until 2 AM, the typical closing time for most establishments in the area.

I don't remember if it was Dallas or Houston, but I think the bars closed fairly early, like at around 9 or 10? I think everything closed at around midnight.

No, but it's not a bad thing. When traveling, you should sleep even if it means at an airport!
