Lady

Lady, once proud, I see you all laced in bodice and gown.

Head held high by dignity, and ancestoral pride.
Enveloped in the love of family.

Lady...

Now I see you crying tears of shame. Embraced only by your lonliness.
Your father unknown,
unknown ye to your mother.

History has given you the name of "Lady"

Even now,
as I see your hair of blue, bare midriff, and tongue pierced.
Head held high only by your will to be. But thoughts within, oh thoughts within.

With the gaining of your freedom, where has your security gone, with your strength, your weakness exudes. With your shedding of chains and garments, comes the nakedness of your soul.

Proud no more, Lady I see you cast your eyes down.

Its suposed to be a contrast of what a womans used to be.....as opposed to what a "lady" is now

I absolutely loved it. You really need to fix the presentation of the poem though - you seem to be making long sentences and short paragraphs instead. Try organize them into lines and stanzas. Be careful with spelling mistakes! Did you have someone help you edit it? You should ask for opinions from your friends and family members too.

Overall I think it's a beautiful poem - the use of words, the rhythm, the emotions within it . . . it's lovely.

I love the images and the way the poem flows so well. It's unique and kind of "old school," but I like it. Great job! Keep writing!

You write very well and the poem is very good the ending needs a few more words like -----I see you cast your weary eyes ,way down deep just like your soul -------(that's only my opinion)
