Church apologies run on a Millenial cycle.

They'll start apologizing for the Crusades at the end of this Century. 5-800 years later will be apologies for the Inquisition and cultural genociedes of Europe's colonial times and US,Canadian, Australian, etc. settlement.

Around 2950 AD, they will issue a formal apology regarding the sexual abuses that have taken place in recent decades.

I know it's stating the obvious but, Christian Churches (like all organized religions) are very responsive, responsible, and introspective institutions.

I don't like people apologizing for their ancestors. What they did happened; the present people should be trying to show that they are not the same as those people.

Should the children of a murderer have to apologize for the action of their parents? No. You get an apology from the source, or you remember and try not to let it happen again.

Also, the Inquisition was done by the Catholics. Funny scene in a Mel Brooks film.

Crusades went both ways, but yah, were pretty nasty. But that was hundreds of years and dozens of generations ago. Ideas change, so do people.

Colonization was only called 'converting the natives' so that the social majority of the time would be okay with it. It was actually just money grubbing for the politicos, most of the time.

I don't think the church has to apologize.
I have no idea how many people have died
in the name of religion but am sure it must
be in the 100s of thousands down through
the years.

But is the church itself responsible for the actions
of religious fanatics? I don't think so.

But, it still goes on. Catholics against Protestants in
Ireland. Jews against Arabs. When will it end?
Apparently never.

I believe there is one God. All religions seem to feel
that there is one God. Can't they realize that Christians,
Buddhists, Islamists have different names and maybe
a little different beliefs about that ONE God.

Why would we think that an Oriental people would envision
their Buddha to look like MichelAngelo's depiction of God
on the Cistine chapel?

I believe in God, but I do not believe in religion. Religious
bickering is one of this planet's biggest problems.

We don't have to change the entire world to our way of
thinking

Christian churches have not apologized for all the people murdered via Inquisitions, Crusades, or Colonization. You want to know why? It is not the churches' fault for the death of people through thes methods. The people who murdered these people are the ones who must apologize, for the church has not sin. If you know anything about the Christian faith, than you also know the church is a believer's body. If these people murdered, than it was not the Christian Churches in the first place, but false believers.

In over five hundred years, the inquisitions killed 6000. Of those who performed those horrible deeds, not one is living today.
In less than a few decades of rule, Stalinist Russia killed over 10 million. That happened less than a century ago.
And yes, the Pope has apologized on multiple occasions for what happened.

I didn't know that....and it it's true then I'd look for the reason why these people died.....if they died harshly and for no good reason....I won't apologize but i will surely pray for them.

WHY?

BECAUSE YOU DON'T EXPECT CHILDREN TO PAY FOR THEIR PARENTS' MISTAKES OR THEIR DEBTS WHEN THESE CHILDREN GROW UP.
AS FOR YOU PEOPLE WHO'S LOOKING FOR APOLOGIES, and taking humility as a reason, TAKE A LOOK INSIDE YOURSELF AND TRUST ME, ALL YOU'LL SEE IS PRIDE...there is no REAL, NECESSARY, AND URGENT reason to apologize...(although i would apologize for the sake of peace).

If the vatican decides to apologize on the stuff you mentioned, then that great. But don't expect every individual to do so.

Have Jews apologized for the people of Jericho. Have the atheist communists apologized for the millions killed. Have the Hindus apologized to the Muslims. Have the Muslims apologized to the family members of 9/11. Did the Spaniards apologize.... I could go on for days. Being burdened by inappropriate guilt or hatred only hurts you.

Ummmm, ok. I didn't know that I was responsible for apologizing for something that occurred hundreds of years before my existence. If your logic proves correct, can you apologize for me stubbing my toe the other day? That really hurt, and I know I have every reason to blame you.

You are being taken in by the anti-Christian movement. You can't hold Christians responsible for the acts of people who wrongfully claim to be Christian. They were not following the word of God. It's like blaming a victim of identity theft because the thief bought a weapon with their credit card and hurt people with it. The teachings of Islam actually promote jihad, or holy war. But when people commit crimes using the name of Jesus Christ, they are not representing him, they are using him.

When are people going to apologise for discriminating against Christians? Or for not using the brains God gave them?

I'm a christian and feel no need to apologize for anything I didn't do. And just how many people are you talking about? Compare that to communism, and you might find out something about reality.
