Flea markets sells Fleas.. Swap meet you can get both Flea's & Tick's!! Flea Markets is really like someone else's Old Junk Swap meet is is where you swap things of equal value,somethings money to Boot Dang yahoo,must have got stuck on the swap meet..Like .... Meat !!!! HaHa!!

I always thought that traditionally a swap meet is a flea market but some of the vendors have goods for barter/trade, henceforth the name swap meet.

Where I am from, they are not the same thing.
Flea Market--you find all sorts of items, like a yard sale.
Swap Meet--still yard sale like BUT it involves animals also--chickens,rabbits,ect.
Also, people will swap items--you have something they like, they have something you like so you just trade and a little money may also go along with one of the items if someone feels they are not a equal value.

swap meets may swap stuff and I know flea markets are booths with stuff for sale.

It's the area of the country they are being held in. My husband is from Maryland and there they call them swap meets, I'm from Tennessee and here we call it a fleamarket but they are the same as far as their purpose. That of buying and selling goods.
