I completely agree with the concept. A person's life is theirs to do with as they please. If they wish to die, then let them die! That is my view at least. It seems rather counterintuitive to prolong pain by paying money. I don't think that the government should touch insurance, but I do agree with the concept of suicide.

I think it is completely inhuman to let a person lay there and suffer, without food and water, until they die. Some treat their animals better. I watched my mother lay there for five painful long days, trying to breath. She fought to live and had that right and I wouldn't have given up a minute with her but if she had asked me to end her suffering, I would have. Then I watched my father die. He laid there for weeks with no brain activity. There was no chance he would ever come back and finally he passed. He was gone long before his last breath. It's wrong and their is no dignity in a long lingering death. At least he was not in pain. . .Your talking morality here and that should not be dictated by law. It is a personal choice each should be allowed to make.

Agree. I'm extremely happy that this debate isn't in the Veterinary field; sometimes people need to let go.
Too often I see pets in serious pain and suffering that *need* to die, yet the owners hold on, taking any experimental/low yield procedure because there's hope.
It's the same way with people. Loving relatives clinging to their dying family, but is it love to keep a dying person alive or to let them die? Don't people say, 'If you love them, let them go?'
Personally, if it turned out that the high light of my day would be when the nursing staff came in to turn me over and give me my copious pain meds, and this went on, and on, I'd want my family to have the courage and ability to say...
Enough is enough.

I agree 100%. It's better than having a depressed guy blowing away at 10 or 20 people at mall or school. If he hates his life and wants to die, then let someone help him give him the right nudge. Good old suicide doctors!

Agree, If I was terminally ill, in excruciating pain and my quality of life had significantly diminished then I would certainly want the option to finally be at peace. Furthermore, those who truly care about my well-being should rightly share in that desire. From an ethical and moral standpoint, why should someone not have the right to control the time, place, and nature of their own death?

I agree with assisted suicide, but only if the person is mentally competent.
I had two relatives who both had cancer. Both were in extreme pain, that medications only dulled. They both endured many weeks of chemo, that only prolonged their lives, but did not improve.
I know my grandmother would have gone the assisted suicide route, my step-father might have, if it was available.
If a person has diminished life, with no hope of a cure, why prolong their agony, if they wish to die?

Completely agree."The crap believes" will not feel the pain or the burden on my family if I am to die sick from a disease that takes years. I rather go out in dignity

Assisted suicide is okay in some cases. Like if you have an incurable disease and you're gonna die painfully by wasting away slowly.

Euthanasia, I think it called that. Yes. If I was dying of cancer, and feeling all my organs turn to jello, I would rather be dead already. It's sad enough watching your loved one pass, and even worst to watch them die a painfully.

If someone is in enough anguish to commit assisted suicide then i believe they have the right to end their own life, assisted suicide will help them do it without endangering anyone else (i.e. stray bullets, jumping in front of a bus)
