How is life like in the desert? I mean Arizona, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Chicago?

Do you have water to drink or bathe? Do you have a swimming pool?

I can't speak for Arizona, but in southeastern New Mexico the daytime summer highs in July will be about 105 to 110 degrees with 5 to 10 percent humidity. You sweat, but it evaporates so fast that you aren't drenched. Winter weather can vary greatly day to day, one day the high can be in the 70's and the next can be in the low 30's. Cold weather will blow in with strong winds (gusting up to 60 mph).

Spring winds from the west (gusts up to 80+ mph) are frequent and usually laden with sand and dust.

Precipitation events are usually during the spring and late summer. A few summer thunderstorms will produce a large amount of rain over a small area in a very short time. Some of these storms can dump 1 to 2 inches of rain in an hour. Subsequently, you'll have street flooding for a short time. Snow events of a couple inches will occur a couple times during the winter.

The county where I live has a few draws but no running creeks, rivers, etc. All of the water for drinking, bathing, irrigation, etc. is groundwater. Our water well is drilled into the Ogallala Aquifer. There are several city swimming pools along with some private residential pools and pretty much every other modern amenity.

I wondered that myself, since it appears that a lot of people are moving to those places. So, it must not be that bad. I think they import a lot of their water from other areas. I know Las Vegas does. I went to New Mexico once, and wouldn't live there, not enough variety of plant life.

I prefer the mountains of North Carolina.

BOILING HOT AT DAY
FREEZING COLD AT NIGHT

- sometimes you feel sick because of the heat, it gets too much for you.

- local animal water holes, the only sources of water in some deserts - can be dangerous - disease/dangerous animals

MERRY CHRISTMAS

My aunt lives in Arizona--most months she goes from her air conditioned home,to air conditioned car,to air conditioned destination--then all over again.
I prefer fresh air and green vegetation,myself:-)

PS --Chicago is NOT the desert.
