The UC system is very competitive. The minimum high school gpa accepted is between a 2.8 and 3.0. The average gpa for accepted freshman (for all UC's) was between a 3.56 and 4.17. With your current gpa, chances are slim. You would have to have a very impressive background, including SAT/ACT scores and a well polished admissions essay in order to get in. My suggestion is to work a bit more on your GPA, prepare for the tests, and get involved. Also check out other options, CSU's are good schools too. They may not be as prestiguous as the UC's, but depending on your major they can be very good schools to consider. Good luck.

If you want to get into a UC, then you HAVE to raise up your gpa.
They look at EVERYTHING.
gpa, scores, personal statement, extracurricular activities, community service, your school, your environment, etc.
If your gpa is not a 4.0, dont worry about it...
just do well in the other areas
use your personal statement (it is the only way that you get to express/explain youself without numbers)
You still have a semester! work hard!!!

um...
you might want to raise your cummulative gpa to at least 3.5 with TONS of extra activities and GREAT sat score
also depends on which uc you wish to attend
but honestly, get as high gpa as possible
i was accepted by all uc schools b/c i was top 2% of my class, end up goign to san diego b/c it's closer and by the beach, and by the beginning of the second quarter, alost 5% of the incoming freshmen DROPPED OUT b/c they couldn't handle it in school
so make sure that you have good grades and studying habits
b/c just b/c you get in doesn't mean you can stay in
and also
if you get dropped out from any uc school, all the uc and cal state wont take you in afterwards
so be careful
good luck

Your GPA is not strong enough for one of the better UCs, like UCLA, Berkeley, or San Diego. It is a little low for the others too, but if your SATs are strong enough, you may be able to get into some place like Riverside or Merced.
