I know for a fact that this theory has a name to it but i don't know what it is, so what is it?

Its called Occam's razor, and its right about 90% of the time.

Whatever the name is, it is not a theory, it is a generalization and I doubt if it is true in even 50% of the time.

I think it depends on the question. I've always felt long scientific answers are only a way to impress others. Someone who can spell it out so a 5 year old can understand is generally the smarter one in my opinion. ;-)

Occam's razor. I believe Occam was a monk in Europe when he came up with that. It makes sense to me.
