For the industries you mention, it is definitely worth it. There are a number of consulting firms and financial services companies which ONLY hire from the top schools, so it is not just a matter of how much the differential salary would be, but of whether you would qualify to enter the profession at all.
One thing to keep an eye on is this recent trend of top schools (Harvard, Swarthmore, etc.) announcing that their financial aid packages will no longer offer loans, but grants instead, for families making middle and lower incomes (and for someone at your parents' level the amount they would give in grants would be increased and there would be a limit on the loans they would give out). In order to be competitive, more and more schools are starting to make announcements about such plans. It will never become universal, but my guess is that at the schools with the huge endowments, it will become a standard thing.

You're probably going to get somewhere next to NO financial aid... and I think those top schools aren't worth it. You'd probably be much better off going to a state university or a college that specializes in business majors. You'll come out of school with like $200,000 in debt. That's scary!

first of all
you wont get any financial aid for having yearly income of 200k and two kids in college
secondly
it's up to you if it's worth goign to a name brand school
since you dont like being amiddle class, it might be worth it for you, that way you can make tons of connections with rich and fancies
and also those ivy league schoosl tend to have tons of great resources avail to their students than just a regular university
its really up to you as to what yoru personal values are
=)

Well , i think you should go to a Community college for atleast 2 years, they give you the same courses ! Adn you save over $10,000 ! Then after the 2 years, you can transfer to a UC or a STATE.

Go to a decent inexpensive state university to get your bachelors degree, get good grades and then apply to upper tear schools. When you apply for jobs they wont care that you got your bachelors degree at U of Arizona if your masters if from Yale. Never take out loans (id you can avoid it) for a bachelors, it is hard to get a good enough job with that low of a degree to pay them off quickly.
