it would have to be Romney,If the republicans want to win they had better not let Rudy advance to the general election, thats when the gloves come off in these campaigns and I'm betting that here is a lot of dirt on Rudy

Before i answer this question, to one of the previous posts that said Rudy would be the best candidate because of experience as a mayor and leadership skills, are you serious?
1. In a time of war, electing someone with no foriegn polcy experience what so ever to the office of president is stupid. 2. His insulting way of scaring the american people into voting for him by saying voting for him would keep us safer is wrong.
3. With out 9/11 he has no campaign, and as for him thinking he was the hero that day...He did what any other mayor would of done in that situation, He delt with it. Sorry no medal!
4. There is a big gap between being mayor of a city and being a governor or senator. Being mayor makes you less of a leader regardless of what he titles his book.
5. Without forgien policy experice he feels like hes right in taking the stand that we should go into iran. umm...Based off what?
6. He isnt high in the polls because he is a good politican, hes high in the polls because he is a celebrity! (his high polls which are finally crashing down).

Now as for the best republican candidate?
I would say Ron Paul. A man with 30 years of foreign policy experience. A man that wants to withdraw troops from Iraq. A man with a good plan to restore our economy. A man that is against robbing the american people of their constitutional rights. And as far as all you people out there that are so quick to critisize him without taking a more depth look into his stance on the issues, you are the reason that idiots that bring nothing to the table (like Rudy and huckabee) keep becoming the front runner!
Either do research or dont vote!

I firmly believe that Ron Paul is favored by John Q. Public. However, as we all know, "It's not the votes that count, but who counts the votes." and I don't think that he is favored by the media. Huckabee was the darling for a while, but he began to preach too much. We'll just have to wait and see.

The only man who is willing to bring the troops home, hates deficit spending, loves low flat taxes, speaks truth, is anti-war, and obeys and defends our Constitution. Ron Paul.

Restore the Constitution.

At this point, there are three realistic candidates: Huckabee, Romney, and Guiliani.

To me, Huckabee is in the best shape. He leads in the early states except New Hampshire, and is now shown on top of national polls.

Romney has a shot if he can pull off an early state upset outside New Hampshire

Guiliani has to win Florida or else Huckabee's momentum will be too great heading into Super Tuesday. A Romney upset helps him though.

McCain pulling off an upset in New Hampshire, as his campaign is praying for, still won't help him enough to give him a shot.

I suggest you look at this straw poll, which has had more than 61,000 votes (IP logged so no spamming):

Ron Paul - 48 states [28% of the total]
Giuliani - 1 (NY) [17%]
Romney - 1 (MA) [15%].
