people answer a question by saying oops i thought this was a question about something else. why do the even answer?

In my opinion, some questions are a little misleading because it isn't until you see the added details that you realize that what you assumed at first has a different interpretation. People are clarifying why their answer may not make sense or why they just wrote "oops" and they are wanting the 2 points.
